Dear ESSEF Community,

The growth and development of scholastic esports in New York State in the past three years has been nothing but amazing. We have seen not only more schools start programs, but many schools with active programs have become more robust. What we do as coaches and advisors is not easy. Esports does not have a true “off season”. The culture of go-go-go and instant communication seemingly forces us to constantly be on task and online. That is, of course, on top of your paid job (probably in a school district) and amongst family obligations. We see you!

ESSEF is a nonprofit founded by teachers to spread the benefits of scholastic esports to youth across New York State. As such, we have run in-person events, tournaments, and championships. To foster scholastic esports we are also looking to do things like help fill vacant coaching positions, get programs started, and educate school boards and government entities on the benefits of scholastic esports.

Every month we move forward in NYS scholastic esports: a new title is added to our online league, a school hosts a LAN for the first time, a college and high school collaborate together. ESSEF wants to highlight successes in your program and those across the state. Share your stories; help scholastic esports grow in NYS. Through sharing and collaboration we can continue the successes we have made possible together.

We hope our new website and upcoming ESSEF Discord can be a place to share events, successes, and resources. Scholastic esports can only continue to evolve successfully if we continue to work together. If you want to be more involved, consider being a community manager. Your voice matters!
